This is a custom outfit from AvidMax Outfitters which includes a Tenkara Amago 13ft. 6in. Rod, a Tenkara Level Line - 3.5 orange, a Tenkara OKI Kebari Fly (Size 8, 3-Pack), and a Tenkara Line Holder.

Named after one of Japan's most beautiful mountain stream trout, the Tenkara Amago is our longest rod at 13 ft. and 6 inches long (410cm). Longer rods provide distinct advantages over shorter rods. Generally speaking, we recommend using the longest rod you can for the stream you are fishing.

Based on the request of several tenkara anglers this rod has a matte black finish for reduced light reflection. The handle was meticulously designed to provide good counterbalance to the long rod and for extra comfort on a long day of casting your delicate line and fly. The wider end of the handle serves two purposes: it provides a slightly better counter balance to the rod, and serves as a good grip for using the full length of the rod.

The Amago is a lightweight 6:4 rod. The 6:4 action provides a accurate pin-point casting action. The light weight of the rod, similar to the popular Iwana rods, makes this rod a delight to handle and when catching fish of any size.

Introducing the best Tenkara Level Lines anywhere: very little memory right out of the spool, the right stiffness for casting, and most importantly very high visibility. This is the preferred line used by Dr. Hisao Ishigaki, leading tenkara authority in Japan, and is developed exclusively for Tenkara USA.

The smaller the number the lighter the line is. So, a 2.5 level line is lighter than the 4.5. What this translates to: The lighter the line the easier it is to keep off the water, but the more challenging it is to cast. The heavier lines will be easier to cast. Additionally, the heavier lines will pair better with the stiffer rods, so the 4.5 lines are recommended for the Yamame and Amago rods.
As for the color, it is slightly based on personal preference. The orange will typically be more visible in a higher range of conditions, but the orange will stand out better against warm "orange-like" backgrounds. These Ishigaki Kebari Flies (3 Pack) are the Tenkara flies used by renowned tenkara angler, and leading authority on Tenkara in Japan, Dr. Hisao Ishigaki. For the last ten years, Dr. Ishigaki has used this one Tenkara fly pattern exclusively, and has continued catching as many fish as he ever did. The Ishigaki Kebari (Ishigaki fly) fully embodies the simple spirit of Tenkara fly fishing, where more emphasis is placed on the technique of the angler, not on the gear he uses.

The Tenkara Line Holders are great for quickly winding the line at the end of the day, or for moving from one spot to another. While the Tenkara lines come with a small plastic spool, these spools are wider and thicker, which make it much easier and quicker to wind the line around it. The notches are excellent for holding flies. The foam core helps ensure your line dries off quickly and also make it easier to secure the ends of the line. The foam core may also be used to hold a few flies in hand. Made in Japan.
