**Happy Holidays from the AvidMax Crew!**
As the temperatures drop, we're thrilled to embrace the challenges of tailwater fishing during this magical season—and, of course, dive into the excitement of stocking stuffer shopping! To make your holiday gift-giving effortless, I spent some time chatting with our team to uncover their favorite picks and why they love them. We've pulled together the ultimate list of gift ideas, so you can skip the hassle and focus on spreading the holiday cheer. ??
In no particular order, here are our favorites!
• Umpqua River Run Trout Plier & Nipper Combo w/ Sheath
We love this kit! It comes with the perfect size pliers, for well everything on the water. You can use these to smash barbs, cut tippet, crush some lead...hell, rip a hook out of your face, I saw a guy do it...he was crazy, don't be crazy! The nippers are solid, well built and the included lanyard make them my goto nipper when I am on the move.
• C&F Design Chest Fly Box Bug Kit
I love checking out the bugs! This kit is small and fits easy into your pocket. You have several containers for bringing home a few bugs to study and use as reference when you hit the tying desk to make that next fly!
• Loon Classic Mitten Scissor Clamp
When it's cold out, I don't want to take off my glove to work...and these are perfect for a lot of small tasks on the water. I like to hang them off my pack, where I can get to them without fumbling...use the plier portion for helping pull knots, or help remove a fly from the fish. The cutting area is just the right size and sharp. These are a winner in my book, and I use these 98% of the time.
• Orvis Tippet Tool
Clean, neat, and can be attached in several different ways to meet your needs on the water. I like to keep my tippet situation as simple as possible, and I love this for holding a few spools right where I need them.
• Gear Keeper 6-Oz Force Tool Retractor
When it comes to keep gear in the right place, I love these guys! Small, sturdy, and detachable! I like to keep things neat, but I also need to be able to adjust fire quickly and these allow for changing packs easily and efficiently.
• Fishpond Sand creek Travel Pouches
As a neat freak, I like to have things organized and these pouches are perfect for all things flat...ie leaders, phone, wallet, little notebook and pen, maps...I wish they came in a multi pack...but they don't so get the size you need, hell get a few because you will find ways to use them all!
• Umpqua Walkabout Fly Box
I love FLIES...and I LOVE FLY BOXES even more...this one is FIRE! It's packed with options for carrying a wide variety of flies and that's why its so perfect. You can make this a specific box, or use all the options to make it the perfect all around assortment box for outings.
• Magnetique MagMini Double Sided Fly Patch
My in between flies, can't hold too many things at once partner in crime. This mounts to my chest pack, and I use to caddy those flies I might use one more time before I put them away in the fly box...or if they are super wet and need some time to dry out.
• Loon Outdoors Silicon Caddy
Another one of those little tools you don't think you need until you...well need it and want your floatant right where you need it. I like this one because it's simple and clean...nothing you don't need getting in the way.
• MFC Plan D Fly Box
My goto bugger box, my easy streamer box...and NOW my favorite, and I mean FAVORITE terrestrial box!!! This thing is the trouts lips when it comes to loading it up with terrestrials. Wait, is that even a saying? I know it can be the Bee's Knees, but Trout's Lips! hmmm lets go with it! So there is a saying that flies catch more anglers, and yes I would agree seeing a nice fly box gets me wild, and seeing a sexy terrestrial box with a clear lid is just about as gangster as it gets.
